Radical Reconsiderations

What if you weren’t stuck?
What if you had enough time?
What if you could take that fear, rearrange its pieces, and use your handiwork as rocket fuel?
Who would you be?
What if you said a prayer of appreciation for all that’s overwhelming you?
What if you threw off the cloak of self-doubt?
What if you said no – with love?
How would you feel?
What if the opposite of all that’s troubling you right now was true?
Where would you be?
What would you do?
What would my biggest, most powerful and courageous self do?

Making me happy

I present to you: Things I Love, a (not definitive) list of things that light me up and soothe my soul:

Exercise, movement, a thumping heartbeat. Tender ‘I love you’s’ whispered in the middle of the night.  Unhinged silliness. Hand-holding in bed. The kind of delirious laughter that brings tears to your eyes. Mexican food. Asian food. The adrenalin rush of an inspired idea. The faculties of the mind. Coaching, guidance, lifting up. The ocean. Ancient traditions, rituals, cultures and customs. Books, glorious books. Entrepreneurship. Witty captions on animal photos. Quotes.  Post-long run highs. 11:11.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Unrelenting commitment. Soul sistas. Exploration and adventure.  Kinesiology. List-making. Being married to the most beautiful person I know. Family. The crispness of a new Moleskine journal. Colour. Effortless style. Pastels. Neons. Blue Sky. Artisans. Lip gloss. Michael Jackson. Alternative music. Booty-shakin’ RnB/ pop/ dance beats. Creative sovereignty. Tickles. My parent’s hybrid accents. Clean sheets. Crystals. Gut-knowing. Green juice vigour. Swirly, free-flowing handwriting. Rosehip oil. Green grass

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Meditation. Unapologetic exclamation mark use (see! and!!) Peonies. Shower sparks (of the ‘aha!’ moment variety). Familiarity . The un-self-conscious ease of a child experiencing joy (usually evidenced by bounding/ twirling/ cartwheeling/ running with glee). Gold and silver sequins. Mornings. Rustic outdoor tables decorated with candles, wine, wildflowers and conversation. Soul-stirring documentaries. Biographies. People – people with stories and big dreams. History. The Internet. The warm, shaky hand of an old soul. Deeply etched lines on the face of a human who has lived. H20. Intention, elegance, eloquence and desire.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

There’s so much more but I believe these things should just pour out unedited, and this is my outpouring today.

What about you?

Making Me Happy

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference.

It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles
and they can become your blessings.
